Social Faux Pas

Don't worry. I spelled it right. I googled.

This is coming to you at approximately 10:00 PM on a Friday night in my little condo in Provo. The heart of Provo. And yet here I sit. On a Friday night. My roommates are cuddling with their men. I sit at my kitchen table. Blogging. Without pictures. Again.

It's fine. Someday I WILL meet the house of glasses men. And then I will hopefully no longer have nothing to do but watch Psych reruns and the latest Project Runway on Hulu to drown my disappointment in the test I was hoping for a miracle on since I made effort to take it tonight so I could watch conference tomorrow.

But it's fine. Friday nights are still good. Good for nothing. Except for saving my bamboo plant who has sat in the sun too long. And the pleasant thought that I will be sleeping in somewhat tomorrow. And going on a blind date that I don't really want to go on...Don't judge.

Truth is, my friends, I don't even care that I'm not on a date right now. To be honest, I just want some good friends - the kind I can call up any time and I know that they're not doing anything either and that we can be spontaneous and suddenly find ourselves on a hill in Provo canyon at 2:00 AM. Unfortunately, I'm realizing very quickly that my whole not being able to make friends with girls thing is really hurting my right now...for now, all my best friends are gone.

Eh...Don't pity me. Here's the EXCITING part of this post. I'll put it in bold to catch your attention. THIS IS THE EXCITING PART! My roommates and I are having a "Take a Chance Week." Said event begins Monday and runs through Friday next week. What is this you ask? Well. It's this little competition we have running where every day you have to do one thing that puts you way out of your comfort zone. For me, this could be sitting down at an already occupied table at the library and introducing myself. One thing a day to push your limits. And then at the end of every day we compare stories and award the person who went the furthest out of their comfort zone. Why are we doing this? Because it's healthy. And fun. And a learning experience. And Melinda tried it last year and got a date every day. Cough cough. It's fine. I will be reporting daily. Get excited.

And HERE is my challenge to you. Take a Chance Week. DO it. Let me know how your days go. I've been told amazing things happen when you push yourself a little.
