ADDENDUM

It's okay. I now have soooo much more to say. Brace yourselves.

Why is it that I was semi-uncaring and unattentive during the first three speakers of the Relief Society's broadcast tonight? Well, it might have been the surprising visits with old friends earlier, or perhaps the disappointing "meal" we were served (I'm sorry kids, chopped lettuce with carrot slivers and one wheat roll per person does not constitute dinner. Not even a "light" dinner. I went on strike.)

Sadly, I was begging to leave at the turn of the hour, especially considering our broadcast was not streaming well and we were missing bits and pieces here and there anyway. When Elder Uchtdorf was announced as the concluded speaker, however, I perked up a bit and reopened my notebook. BEST. TALK. EVER. Look it up now. I dare you. I was ever so inspired and strengthened because of it. He used the symbol of the forget-me-not and listed five things (five petals) that we as sisters should never forget: Be patient with yourself, the difference between a good sacrifice and a bad sacrifice, be happy NOW, the "why" of the gospel, and the Lord loves you, and He will never forget us. Remembering these things helps us to enjoy the small and oft forgotten things of life - like the forget-me-not.

Now, remember the part where I said the broadcast wasn't streaming well? So during the closing song after we were all blissfully cheerful from Uchtdorf's talk the streaming cut completely. Jerks. Actually no. It was the most beautiful thing - because here we were singing along, a couple hundred young single women voices strong, and suddenly the video cuts out and goes blank, and we all kept singing - not one faltering voice. And then into the second verse. And when the video picked up again, we were right on track with the broadcast. Call me cheesy, but it was beautiful.

SO. That significantly brightened my mood. And to make matters better, my one roommate just broke up with her boyfriend (don't judge...it really IS a good thing) aka I am no longer the only single person in my apartment (because my other roommate who was my buddy seems to be getting along really well with this guy who has been treating her like gold - it's precious) and I have someone to go out and about and socialize in the ward with!

Anywho, seeing as we were all disappointed by dinner, when we passed a little rundown hold-in-the-wall burger joint on our way home from the broadcast and voiced that we wanted to try it sometime, a lightbulb clicked, we flipped a U and went to Tommy's Burgers for dinner. Ugh, I am sooooo sick for allowing myself red meat - my stomach kills! But...it was worth it. Best. Burger and fries. EVER. Thank you Tommy's for affording my roommates and I some much needed bonding time and a more satisfying dinner.

Now I smell like grease and I'm getting my roommates together to check hosting a white tie party off my bucket list. Whaaaat?! Here's a pic to rep my man Tommy. Note how conveniently the address is posted in the window.

PS - My neighbors across the street like to smoke late at night. :P What the underline?!
