Every once in a while, no matter how crazy or frustrating or upsetting or ridiculous life gets, you find this little bubble of contentment. That's not to say that life doesn't keep throwing crap in your face because it certainly does. But as life is aiming another boatload of junk, you are able to look life in the eyes, shrug your shoulders, and keep walking as said junk is hurtling your way. Am I making any sense? Sometimes things are just okay. It's a good feeling.
Today was one of those days. Not to say that any of my stress is relieved, any of my work is closer to being done or that I've found a miraculous way to pay for my trip to Europe. That's not to say that I made it to work on time after a late night or that I didn't fall asleep in D&C again. I still have a test tomorrow and a blind date I'm not super excited for on Saturday. But then again, I get to write a paper on fashion photography in early Vogue. I was gifted a peanut butter and nutella sandwich for lunch. I got to play with oil paints in art class.
So here's life lesson number one: Stop praying for God to fix the troubles in your life and start praying for the peace to bear them. That answer comes a heck of a lot quicker and is ten times more satisfying.
Now, without further ado, my latest art projects: Excerpts from my weekly visual journal.
"Why I am taking this class."
That's supposed to be the Redwoods...eh...
Inspired by Milton Avery
Inspired by Cy Tombly, Morris Louis, and Jackson Pollock. Made a MESS.
PS - I'm only slightly weirded out that my professor (who is a man) is named Madison Smith when Madison Smith (who is a girl) was my really good friend and sewing buddy my sophomore year who got married before I graduated.
PPS - Did you know oil paints can cause cancer if ingested? Particularly the red and yellow ones apparently. So don't eat them.
